3-Year-Old Runs To Fire Department Alone To Save Her Father’s Life

We can only hope that during a time of crisis, we're prepared enough to handle whatever is thrown our way. But to expect the same of a child is a steep request, and that's what makes the following story so remarkable.

At just 3 years old, Alesaundra Tafoya witnessed something terrifying. Right before her eyes, her father collapsed and was unresponsive to her pleas. Her father, Manteca, CA resident Frank Tafoya, reportedly confused his prescribed medicine and instead took a bedtime dose.

What little Alesaundra would do would soon make her a tiny hero.

The toddler left her home and walked to a nearby firehouse, where she alerted the firefighters of her father's need for immediate medical attention, reportedly telling them her daddy was "frozen." (Yes, a 3-year-old was smart enough to do this all on her own.)

"I've been here over 20 years, that's the first time I've ever had a 3-year-old walk up to the fire station," Manteca Fire Department Captain Robert Villalovoz told CBS News. CBS also reports that had it not been for her heroic act, Alesaundra's daddy would have probably passed away.

Her mama said the family passes the fire station daily and have taught their baby girl that the firehouse is a safe place. She adds, "She's been listening and that's really good."
