Misty-Eyed ‘Nanny’ Officiates Her Grandbaby’s Wedding In An Emotional Ceremony

Grandmas are always the cutest part to any wedding, whether they're watching the ceremony while seated, or stealing the show as an adorable flower girl.

Grandparents are an invaluable part of the family, so when they are able to attend their grandchildren's weddings, it is definitely something to celebrate.

Some couples even find ways to incorporate them into the ceremony by putting them in the wedding party, inviting them down the aisle, or having them deliver a special speech.

But Margot and James Koehler had the perfect role in mind for the bride's beloved grandmother.

Not only did they ask her to play a part in their big day, they asked her to officiate it!

Being a former deacon and an incredibly important person in the bride's life, they couldn't think of anyone else they would want more to marry them.

Check out photos of the beautiful wedding below, including the grandma that made it all official!

Margot and James Koehler celebrated their beautiful garden wedding in the fall last year.

But there was one aspect of their ceremony that made it super special.

As Margot walked down the aisle, the groom and the minister stood close together.

Both were misty-eyed with pride, which immediately made her eyes well up, too.

This is because the minister was Margot's grandmother!

Nancy Miller, or "Nanny," was a former deacon and beloved by both the bride and groom.

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have the relationship with my grandmother that I do," Margot explained to Country Living.

"My husband James has become close with her over the years, too — so close that we could not have pictured anyone else marrying us."

At first, Margot was nervous to ask her grandma if she would be the one to make their marriage official.

But of course, she was honored to be a part of the ceremony!

Once the wedding started, it was clear how much the bride, groom, and grandma all meant to each other.

By the time the bride got down the aisle, there wasn't a dry eye between them!

Nanny was also a perfect person to officiate a marriage because she, herself, has been married for 58 years.

This makes them an exemplary love story for Margot to model her marriage after.

"Their marriage has served as such a strong example of what love and friendship mean for their five children and all of their grandchildren," she explained.

The unique nuptials definitely worked out exactly how the Koehlers wanted them to.

They are clearly a couple who loves family, so they were excited to say their vows in front of the beloved grandmother.

With Nanny at the helm, the couple was able to have the wedding of their dreams!
