No one is born physically perfect, but some people are faced with bigger challenges than others when it comes to the way their bodies look.
Molly Higgins, a 23-year-old from Los Angeles, knows all too well about how cruel people can be to someone who looks a little different.
The Instagram sensation experienced complications in the womb that severely damaged both her hands. In fact, her right hand was so badly damaged that it had to be amputated all together shortly after she was born.
Since physical flaws can be seen as an invitation for ridicule bullies, Molly has received her fair share of cruel remarks and unwelcome stares.
Molly admits that she used to let the negativity get to her, and that she has even contemplated ending her life at times.
Luckily, the 23-year-old has found herself through the struggle, and now shares how she made peace with her condition.

Today, Molly has over 4,000 followers on Instagram, where she inspires others to be body positive and accepting of people with handicaps.
Molly tells Daily Mail:
I haven’t known life any other way. From the beginning I had to learn how to do everything differently – there was no one else to look to for guidance, or to teach me, which made me fiercely independent and headstrong. Each new experience was uncharted, uncertain waters which I had to traverse on my own.
She continued to explain that she's had to put on a very brave face for most of her life:
I also learned how to put up boundaries, walls and shields to protect myself. Don’t look vulnerable. Don’t look like you’re struggling. Don’t let them know you’re hurting. Keep your guard up and make sure everyone thinks that you are fine, because you need to prove yourself, your strength, and your worth.
Sadly, Molly hasn't always had this strength. Like anyone, she experienced moments of self doubt, and even deep depression.
She thought of ending her life, but luckily, she got to a point where she says she was, "Tired of hating myself. It's exhausting."
Today, Molly has a much healthier perspective, and is a lot easier on herself.
Since we so often happen to be our own worst enemies, this has been a life-changing transition for Molly.
Now Molly uses her social profiles as a way of sharing her story, building her own confidence, and helping others do the same.
She explains:
I turned my instagram into a chronicle of my journey to #selflove and #bodypositivity because I wanted to learn more about myself and surround myself with a like-minded community of support.
