When you hear Harrison Ford's name, most of us immediately think about Star Wars or Indiana Jones. It's hard not to when he's a franchise legend!
But did you know that he is a private pilot of both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters? He has helped the police near his Wyoming ranch before with his helicopter. Once he saved a dehydrated hiker!
Harrison began flight training all the way back in the 1960s, but due to the high cost he had to wait until he'd had some big success in his career to continue. By the early '90s, he already had his own Gulfstream II.
Jodie Gawthrop, 16, is the 2 millionth participant in the Young Eagles Flight Program. As a special surprise to her, Harrison made a trip out to Wisconsin to take the teen up in his plane.
Over 40,000 pilots help show the wonders and joys of flight to the youth of America. Harrison is proud to be one of those pilots!
"That was amazing. I'm just really thankful for this experience with the opportunity to pursue my dreams of flight," said Jodie about her ride with Harrison. The smile on her face when she stares up at him pretty much says it all.
