When a bed frame has run its course after a few years, it's easy to throw it away. YouTuber Shabby DIY had plans to get rid of her dusty old sleigh-bed-style headboard and footboard, until she realized she could upcycle the pieces of wood into a wooden bench. You can also make a bench out of cinder blocks if you don't have an old headboard.
With some red paint and polyurethane, the old slabs of wood were completely transformed into a stunning red bench. All she did was recut and reassemble them. For those without a saw at home, you can bring the slabs of wood to your local hardware store and have them cut to size for you. What I love about this tutorial is that a sleigh bed headboard is so common and it seems there are so few uses for it.
