Watch: Heartwarming Reunion Of Lost Dog And Her Owner

The World Animal Awareness Society is comprised of tens of thousands of volunteers who rescue animals and pets during natural disasters. In honor of their continuing efforts, the organization recently released unseen footage of the days following Hurricane Katrina.

In August 2005, Katrina caused severe destruction along the Gulf coast from central Florida to Texas and caused a significant number of deaths occurred in New Orleans, LA. It is known as one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States.

Following the hurricane, World Animal Awareness Society worked to gather abandoned pets and helped to reunite them with their families. In the moving footage below, an aging man named Lemont was on a mission to find his beloved dog, Cleo.

With cameras following him at Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, LA, the man hoped he'd find his beloved pet. Filmed 10 days after his home was destroyed following Hurricane Katrina, Lemont prayed for a miracle.

When he finally spots Cleo, the man falls to his knees and weeps. For a man who'd lost everything, he was overjoyed to see his dog alive.

This might be one of the most heart wrenching reunions ever. Get the tissues ready!
