Homeless Man Finds Purse, Returns It To Single Mom With Cancer

Despite being down on his luck, a homeless man sleeping on the park benches and with no money in his pockets did an unthinkable act recently near the the parks of State College in Pennsylvania.

According to WJAC News, the man — who has been trying to turn his life around — found a purse with nearly $400 in cash inside just laying on a park bench. No owner was in sight.

The homeless man, who currently penniless, opened up the wallet and saw the cash along with an Access Card. For a split second, he thought about taking the money for himself, but he knew he couldn't live with himself if he took the cash. Instead, he sought out the purse's rightful owner.

The 32-year-old man, who didn't want to be identified, knew he had to do the right thing. He took the purse to the staff of the local homeless shelter, who were able to track down the woman. As it turns out, she's a single mother fighting brain cancer.

She'd been at the park earlier and accidentally left her purse behind. When she returned to get it several hours later, she was devastated to see it was gone!

The woman was beyond grateful to be reunited with her bag, which she said contained her entire life.

According to the news station, the homeless man isn't sure where his next meal will come from, but he's putting his faith in God to provide for him. Because of his good deed, the shelter has moved him into a transitional apartment.
