As a parent, it's difficult at times deciding how much supervision is necessary, especially when your little one is playing. Then, there are the moments in every parent's life when it becomes virtually impossible to keep an eye on their child every single second. You can be the very best parent in the world and still have a child experience a fall and scrape on the knee. Some accidents are simply unavoidable.
Some injuries, on the other hand, can be prevented. Terri Quintela was at her local playground with her two young daughters when something truly scary occurred.
While she was looking away for just one moment, her two-year-old, Alexis, decided to go down the slide. Within seconds of innocent play, she felt something was wrong.
Quintela rushed over immediately to tend to her child and saw a nasty second-degree burn on the young girl's leg. The blazing New Mexico sun made the slide too hot to use. The mom believes more shade on the playground could've prevented this horrific injury. Others, however, think it's a parents responsibility to watch their children carefully.
Do you think that city officials should do more to keep playgrounds safe? Or, do you think it's the parent's duty to make sure this doesn't happen?
