As human beings, it is in our general nature and part of our responsibility to take care of those in need around us. And when that person in need is a child, then our natural instinct to help kicks into high gear.
In this social experiment from Palm Beach County Food Bank, two young girls wander up to unsuspecting strangers while they are eating and they ask if they can have some food. But they aren't just asking because they are curious to try something out, or because they don't have any manners. The kids who take part in this social experiment ask the diners for food in order to see how they will react, and to deliver a very powerful message that many people may be totally unaware of.
According to the Palm Beach County Food Bank, one in six residents is "food insecure," living day-to-day not knowing when their next meal will be or where it may come from. It has become such a big issue that many kids depend on their school lunches for a meal, and during the summer things can get really bad.
While many people know that children in other countries are in need of help and are doing things to better their lives, like the man whose genius idea ensures children in need never outgrow their shoes, some people do not realize that there are similar issues right in our backyard.
With simple donations to the food banks in your city, you can help to make sure that children never go hungry, and do your part to protect the children affected around you.
