Dogs and cats are notorious for being enemies, so plenty of people would have never even dreamed of introducing a young kitten to a big dog. But Ponzu the golden retriever is no ordinary canine. He loves all the kitties his mom brings home to foster, and so when little Ichimi was brought home after being rejected by her mother, this loving pup didn't think twice before taking her in and becoming her adoptive dad. Be warned: Your heart is about to melt into a puddle!
It might sound crazy, but stories like Ponzu and Ichimi's aren't as rare as you'd think. This little kitten named Rosie was adopted by huskies, and now, she seems to believe that she's a dog, too! Still, it's always beautiful to see such a heartwarming story unfold in real life. Just like this big dog who has infinite patience with the tiny kitten in front of him, Ponzu doesn't seem to care that he looks so different from his new companion. I think we humans could learn a lot from these buddies!
My dog and cats all get along great, so this story really tugged at my heartstrings. Ichimi and Ponzu are living proof that we need to let go of stereotypes and love each other for who we are. Check out the awwwmazing pictures of these two, and let us know in the comments if your cats and dogs are also best friends!

Ichimi was just a tiny kitten when Ponzu met her for the first time.

Even though her feline mother had rejected her, Ponzu didn't hesitate a moment to take in the itty bitty-ball of fluff.

It wasn't long before Ichimi and her new foster dad were inseparable.

They loved to cuddle together...

...and they REALLY loved kisses!

And when Ichimi played the nose-booping game...

...she always made sure to include Ponzu, too.

Ponzu returned the favor by teaching Ichimi how to play the face nibbling game.

Ichimi was a fast learner.

In fact, it wasn't long before she was beating Ponzu at his own game!

Before long, that pint-sized kitten started to grow up.

But her relationship with Ponzu never changed.

When it came time for Ichimi's first Christmas, Ponzu stayed by her side the whole time and watched her play with her presents.

And Ichimi didn't need any mistletoe to give her best friend a kiss on the nose.

When all the excitement of the big day was over, they curled up on the couch while visions of Christmas leftovers danced in their heads.

Today, this adorable duo continues to be the cutest best friends in history.

They still love cuddling, kissing, and playing the nose-booping game...

...but most of all, they love each other.
