Thrifty Bride Throws Gorgeous Wedding For 100 Guests, Then Reveals It Cost Less Than $1,300

Today, the average wedding in the United States costs over $25,000.

That sounds like a lot of money, but with food, flowers, the dress, decorations, the cake, music, and more, it's obvious why weddings are so expensive.

We all know that the more guests you have at a wedding, the more expensive it becomes — that's why it's really not unusual to see weddings that cost $30,000 or more — like the dream wedding this couple started planning before they called it off.

That being said, many people make their dream day a reality for less than $10,000. But no matter how thrifty you are, your wedding will probably still cost at least a few thousands of dollars.

Well, that's what Emilyrose Fitzpatrick heard too — but she decided she was going to spend no more than £1,000 on her 100-guest wedding.

It sounds kind of unreasonable, but she managed to pull it off! Keep reading to find out how she tied the knot for only $1,300.

Although most weddings cost upwards of $25,000 nowadays, Emily and Rory, who live in Glasgow, Scotland, knew they could have their special day without breaking the bank.

The two planned their 100-guest nuptials and managed to do it for less than $1,300.

Emily and Rory were originally planning on eloping with a few witnesses, but when Emily's parents decided they wanted to fly in from Australia for the wedding, the couple decided they would throw a full-on wedding.

The couple only had four months to plan everything, and they knew they were on a budget.

Instead of choosing a fancy venue for the ceremony, they decided to go to the local registry office and have it there.

Rory was able to get an incredible deal on a private room at a pub, so they decided to have the reception there.

The venue, food, and entertainment were the most expensive part of the wedding — it totaled up to $770.

Everything else was very inexpensive.

Emily's dress was less than $80, the rings were $91, the cake was $40, and the flowers were $65.

The couple shelled out a little more for a photographer — but they still only spent $260.

The thrifty couple managed to not only save a ton of money, but also had a perfect wedding day.

They also went out of their way to do things themselves. Emily supplemented her purchased flowers with ones she and her friends had foraged. Additionally, Emily's friends did her hair and makeup on the big day.
