Actor Ioan Gruffudd has filed a domestic violence restraining order against his estranged wife of several years, Alice Evans.
In the filing, Gruffudd details his side of events between the two. He says that he told Evans he was "unhappy" in their relationship in August 2020 and that Evans wasn't pleased with that information. In fact, as noted by People, Gruffudd goes on to claim that "she would make false public accusations about me, sell false stories about me to the press, and destroy me and my career."
Gruffudd goes on to add more detail. "Alice told me verbally multiple times that she would do to me what Amber Heard did to Johnny Depp. Alice threatened to tell people I had abused her and our daughters; she threatened to call the police on me if I did not comply with her demands; she threatened to tell people I am a drug addict and put me in prison; she threatened to write a fake diary that reflected an abused victim, and to have the diary published; and she threatened to destroy my mother."
He goes on to state that Evans reportedly told him that she would "win" and that "everyone would believe her over me."
In the filing, Gruffudd indicates that Evans took her words from threat to actual action, sending him "hundreds of harassing, abusive and threatening communications by text, voice message, video message."
Evans has also filed a response, stating in part that she had not seen the restraining order and had "no idea what he is going to accuse me of."
She added that she has not "hit, struck, attacked, threatened, assaulted, harassed, followed, stalked, molested, destroyed the personal property of, kept under surveillance, impersonated, blocked the movement of, annoyed by phone or electronic means by repeated contact, or disturbed the peace of either" Gruffudd or his girlfriend, Bianca Wallace.
Evans also claims she believes Gruffudd filed the restraining order "as a ploy to gain some sort of advantage over me in our divorce proceedings."
While Evans has appeared to have been devastated and surprised by their split, Gruffudd had indicated to The Guardian that the two weren't having the easiest time of it back in February 2020.
He told the publication that their jobs were challenging, explaining, "I think we’ve struggled the past four years, making time for each other because physically we’re apart."
