Torin is only 16 1/2 months old, but he is already learning how to read!
For those of you who don't think it's possible, you have to watch this video. Torin's dad says a word, and the little boy looks on the floor at the cards sitting around him. One by one, he is able to pick the cards up that match the words his dad is saying – and not only that, he's able to say the words himself!
I had no idea that babies this young could be taught to recognize and understand words, but I guess if you're using the right program, and are very focused on teaching your baby, they can learn a lot! We're a lot smarter than we give ourselves credit for.
