Intimate Photos Of Jackie Kennedy Onassis’ Martha’s Vineyard Home From It’s 2020 Sale

Everyone seemed to love Jackie Kennedy Onassis for so many reasons, one being that the famous and well-respected first lady was known to have extraordinarily good taste. That definitely translated into how she kept her gorgeous home, of course. The home where she lived after the death of her second husband, Aristotle Onassis, who died in 1975, went up for sale in 2020. That home was an oceanfront mansion on Martha's Vineyard.

The home was designed by architect Hugh Newell Jacobsen. Jackie named it Red Gate Farm. She loved the home because she felt it was where she could be surrounded by nature. Jackie died in 1994, and her son, John, died in 1999. Her daughter, Carolyn, and her husband, Edwin Schlossberg, renovated the house and made several additions.

Carolyn's family had lived in the house for many years, but in 2020 they put it on the market, and the price was $65 million! Take a look at the gorgeous pictures of their family home.

This home is unbelievably beautiful for so many reasons. Of course, we know Jackie had amazing taste. But it's clearly been so well taken care of over the years, too. But way back when, the home was actually a sheep farm.

Red Gate Farm sits just at the edge of Squibnocket Pond near the Gay Head cliffs. Yes, those ocean views were a must-have for Jackie. She enjoyed looking out over the Atlantic Ocean beachfront. Can you blame her? It's absolutely stunning.

The property is about 340 acres. The home is a Cape Cod style, and it was built in 1981. Since it has been passed down to Jackie's kids, though, the home has gotten better and better with time. It has certainly been well-maintained by her family, who loved the home almost as much as she did.

In 2000, Jackie's daughter, Carolyn, commissioned Deborah Berke, the dean of the Yale School of Architecture, to expand the home. It was important to her that the style and character be maintained. She clearly had her mother's taste in mind.

The home has grown substantially, though. It is now about 6,456 square feet — not a small place to live, by any means. The home has five bedrooms and five full baths. It is definitely a home for a first lady, that's for sure.

The home has just about everything you could ever want or need. On the main level are the formal living and dining rooms, family room, library, and chef's kitchen. And just about every room overlooks the ocean, with the exception of the dining room.

There are extra bedrooms, offices, and much more. The upper level contains four en suite bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own dressing room. The original two-story guesthouse architecturally matches the main house. It also has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a laundry room.

It's clear that the inside of the home is beyond beautiful. However, the land it sits on is really something else. Jackie cared very much about nature and found it calming. It's hard to imagine her family ever wanting to live somewhere else!

You can just picture Jackie sitting, well, just about anywhere in the house, since every room had water views, looking out over the ocean. It's definitely serene and also very private. No wonder she loved it so much and that it stayed in her family for many years.
