Teen Buys Old Wedding Dress At Thrift Shop, Then Covers It With Paint To Transform It For Prom

For one teen from Jacksonville, Florida, prom was a moment to completely let her personality shine — specifically, through her prom dress!

Jadyn Duguyd is a senior at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, and being an art student directly influenced her dress of choice.

In fact, this isn't the first time she has put a creative spin on a prom dress. For last year's dance, she recreated Vincent Van Gogh's famous "Starry Night" painting on her dress.

This year, she definitely upped the ante!

It took her a whopping 20 hours, acrylic paint, and a vintage wedding dress from a nearby thrift store to create the gown you will see in the video below.

This year's inspiration? A recreation of the instantly recognizable painting "The Scream" by Edvard Munch.

"I saw like five girls in the same dress at prom and I thought that was super weird because they're spending so much money and looked really similar… but I didn't spend much money and I think I stood out… probably," said Jadyn in an interview with WLTX.

Her post of the prom dress on Twitter has received over 20,000 retweets and over 70,000 likes — there were even people offering to buy her designs!

“I totally didn’t expect the reaction it got,” she told Yahoo! Style. “I thought I’d get a few hundred retweets at most. I’m really excited that my art is getting all of this attention.”
