Cheated Bride Auctions Off Wedding Gown For Dirt Cheap After Discovering Her Husband’s Affair

Your wedding day is supposed to rank as one of the happiest days in your life.

In the grand scheme of “happiest days,” it’s right up there with the births of your children, your graduation, and maybe the day you finally pay off your house — or have it paid off for you by a grateful grandchild.

Still, it’s hard to ignore the bleak statistics for modern marriage. The divorce rate, though no longer at its peak of 50 percent from the late '70s and '80s, is still high.

That means that, while many marriages make it for the long haul, there are still plenty of stories about “happily ever after” turning into “acrimoniously divorced.”

Still, even these occasionally grim parables about modern marriage can come complete with their own silver linings.

Take, for example, a tale as old as love itself: revenge on the one who jilted you.

We love to see the bad guy get what he deserves, and if he happens to be a cheating husband? All the better.

When 28-year-old Samantha Wragg celebrated her wedding back in 2014, she surely shared the dreams of most brides: a life with her new husband at her side, a house, and perhaps a family.

But for Wragg, the dream was quickly shattered when her husband took off with another woman shortly after the wedding.

Her new husband was gone, and she was left with a broken heart and the burden of filing for — and financing — a divorce.

But Wragg, who runs a blog called Coco Butter Blog, is not one to be intimidated by the obstacles life throws at her.

It would have been easy for her to collapse under the strain of the terrible situation, but instead, she stood up and showed the world who's boss.

Her first step? Listing her wedding dress for sale.

Wragg took to eBay, the popular resale site, hoping to recoup some of the cost of her beautiful gown.

She describes it as an "Art Deco" designer gown that's ivory and strapless.

Her parents paid 2,000 pounds, or about $2,600, for the dress at the time of the wedding, but her starting bid on the auction site is just 500 pounds.

While the 75 percent discount makes this gown a great deal for a bride-to-be, what's really remarkable is the colorful commentary Wragg adds underneath.

In fact, her vivid description of the gown only touches briefly on the aesthetic of the garment, and focuses primarily on her emotional associations with the gown.

The short version? This gown might be a great deal, but if you're the superstitious sort, you might want to read the fine print.

Her description of the dress starts with the brief tagline, "Great condition, but needs dry cleaning before wearing to get rid of the stench of betrayal."

If you already want to give Wragg a high-five, hold on, because she is just getting started.

This woman is on a roll, adding a long-form description at the bottom of the auction page that starts off strong with:

“I’m selling this designer Art Deco wedding dress in ivory.

"Mainly selling as I need to pay for my divorce which my ex-husband has left me to foot the bill for!

"It's strapless, with a long lace train which can be hooked up for the evening do. It's a size 6, and I've had it altered so it will be perfect for someone who is 5 [feet] or under with heels and is looking to save some money on a dress. There are tiny buttons down the back, but these are for decoration as it fastens with a long zip, so quite easy to get into compared to some of the monstrosities of dresses I've seen."

Other highlights from the formidable open letter to all of eBay include her explanation of why it's not dry-cleaned:

“I didn’t have time to get it dry-cleaned myself before my cheating scumbag of a husband decided to call an end to our marriage.”

And why she has just two pictures of the dress:

“Sorry that there are only two pictures, but when I found out my husband was living with another woman, I pretty much burned/permanently deleted everything with his disgusting face on it!”

Of course, with a strong start and a strong middle, it was pretty much inevitable that Wragg would close strong, too.

And boy, does she bring it, finishing up her sales pitch with:

“If you want a dress that is full of bad memories and shattered hopes and dreams, then this is the one for you!

"Hope this dress brings you a lot more happiness than it brought me in the end and if not… Well, you can always sell it on here!

"If you've got any questions — either about the dress or the skank that my husband ran off with — then please feel free to contact me!"
