Johnny Cash Performs Classic Ballad ‘I Still Miss Someone’ In 1978

Whether or not you're a fan of country music, chances are you know all about the love story between two of the genre's most legendary performers: Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Of course, the 2005 movie based on their lives helped spread the word, but their epic tale had already made an imprint on pop culture by then.

Before they were even married, the duo couldn't keep away from each other. Sure, it wasn't exactly fun for their spouses at the time, but audiences just couldn't get enough of the hit songs they sang together. They had such an unmistakable chemistry together that it was inevitable they would eventually end up married. Later, you could still feel the love between them when they covered a song by one of Johnny's friends, Bob Dylan.

But while waiting for those wedding bells to finally chime for them, Johnny wrote down this melancholy ditty with his nephew Roy Cash Jr. titled, "I Still Miss Someone." Though he never explicitly says whose "blue eyes" he's referring to, something tells me he probably wasn't pining for Frank Sinatra. Others wonder if it might be about the death of his brother at a young age, but the emotion he puts into each line feels much more romantic than brotherly love.
