Jono Lancaster was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects the development of the bones and tissues of the face. The malformation was so apparent that just 36 hours after he was born, his parents chose to abandon him.
Because of his appearance, growing up wasn't easy for Jono. He suffered taunts from bullies and often acted out as a result. It was difficult to come to terms with his condition.
As he grew older, despite the cruelty, he sought to help other kids with the disorder, as well as their families, cope. He tried reaching out to his biological family, even learning that he had two younger siblings, but was only met with more rejection. Thankfully, due to his work and newfound status as an inspiration to these children, he was able to connect with one family in particular, and quickly became part of it.
Now, though he faced rejection and bullying his entire life, he is making a difference and has found his calling in transforming the lives of people living with Treacher Collins Syndrome.

Just 36 hours after he was born, Jono Lancaster's parents abandoned him.

They thought his face was "ugly" because of deformities caused by Treacher Collins Syndrome, a genetic mutation.

Jono had a difficult childhood, trying to cope with his condition and the bullying he suffered as a result.

Even when he tried to contact his birth parents as an adult, he was met once again with rejection.

But since then, Jono has become an inspiration to people with the same condition, and their families, by telling his story.

He was even able to bond with one little boy named Zachary, and the 3-year-old's family quickly became Jono's, too!
