Judy Garland Enchants With Her Performance Of ‘I Don’t Care’

Actress and singer Judy Garland is perhaps best known as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, but all throughout her 40-year career, she showed her incredible talent and humor in various ways. Although her personal life and the nature of her death were big topics of discussion at the time, she is best remembered as an actress and a singer with a distinctive voice.

In 1949, she put her talents to use in the musical comedy In The Good Old Summertime. In the film, Garland plays Veronica Fisher, the secret pen pal and romantic interest of Van Johnson's character, Andrew Larkin. But it's the song "I Don't Care" that won the hearts of audiences everywhere — even today's!

In the song, she sings about being different, and challenging the rules of society. Her carefree attitude is apparent in her gestures, but even more so when you pay attention to her feet. When the band conductor turns around and holds out a gold hat, the actress pulls a very surprising move!
