Woman Buys File Cabinet From Estate Sale, Then Discovers Letters Previous Owner Left Behind

When Kacie Gagné purchased an old file cabinet from an estate sale in Yulee, Florida, she never expected to make such an exceptional discovery.

In the video below, posted on May 3, 2017, she explains, "They are World War II file cabinets."

Kacie recalls looking through all the empty drawers, then pulling the one on the bottom right open. Sitting inside was a blast from the past with a very personal touch.

"I had found an old naval certificate for a boatswain's mate. The date on it is 1944," she says. "They are personalized letters to his family members."

Kacie quickly took to Facebook and posted the letters online, hoping to locate the owner or his relatives so she could return these WWII treasures.

Within a week, the daughter of a WWII vet named William Walton contacted Kacie. She told Kacie that the letters got lost after her father passed away the year before.

Thanks to Kacie's kind heart and persistence, William's family will have these precious memories to cherish and pass down for years to come.

“I know how personal it is," Kacie says. "I have family members that were also in World War II and prior military so I just think it’s something very personal.”
