Thanks to movies, TV, and romance novels, many people look at a divorcees in their 50s and 60s and think her best days are past them. Yet, that’s just fiction.
In reality, that’s often not true, as was the case for twice-divorced Esther FitzRandolph, who met the love of her life at the age of 68 after she struck up a conversation with him in a waiting room.
It just goes to show, you never know how two people can meet — just like the incredible couple you're about to meet.
On June 29, 2012, 53-year-old Kasey Bergh had been divorced for nearly six years and had made peace with the possibility that she may never find love again. That was, until she went on a business trip to Denver.
Kasey had some time off during the trip and was supposed to meet up with a co-worker of hers named Maria to do some sightseeing. But Maria’s flight got delayed in their hometown of St. Louis and she couldn’t make it.
Wanting to make the most of her free time, Kasey sent out texts to other co-workers who were on the trip, hoping to connect and make plans with someone else.
Little did she know that this seemingly ordinary text would spark the beginning of one incredibly touching story that would completely change her life…
Here is the text that Kasey sent out:

Kasey accidentally sent the text to Henry Glendening, a 23-year-old who was in an unhappy relationship and was working a dead-end job. Like Kasey, he was yearning to connect with someone else, so he sent her another text.

The two felt a strange connection, and before he knew it, Henry found himself texting her about a road trip he was planning, which included a stop in Colorado — although he’d be heading there after she was back home in St. Louis.

The two continued to text for the next week, bonding over favorite music, books, and movies. At one point, Henry asked Kasey’s age. She said she was ‘25 at heart’ but with plans to meet in the near future she knew she had to come clean. She admitted she was 53. Henry didn’t flinch. “It really didn’t make any difference,” he told the St. Louis Post. “We were so connected at that point through deeper stuff.” They met in person a week after Kasey’s first text.

“There was this positive, open energy about her,” Henry said about the first time he laid eyes on her. The two went on a few more dates after that before Henry left on his road trip. On his first night, he missed Kasey so much, that after he checked into his first motel, he called her and left a voicemail telling her: “I love you.”

Kasey was completely smitten. “I had totally embraced I was single and that I never needed a guy,” she told the St. Louis Post. “Then I met Henry.” Within two months, Henry moved out of his parents’ house and into Kasey’s apartment. On June 29, 2014, exactly two years after Kasey had sent the original text, Henry took her to the restaurant where they first met and proposed.
Three years after their initial text exchange, they got married in front of a graffiti wall that is one of Henry’s favorite spots in St. Louis.

Kasey wrote on her Facebook page that the reason why their relationship works is because she is “a 'young soul' and he is an 'old soul.' ”

Although the couple is often mistaken for mother and son, “All in all, everyone has been very supportive and accepting of us,” Henry told Daily Mail. “Both of us are fairly unconventional people, and those we surround ourselves with definitely accept that.”
The two of them prove that love comes in all shapes and sizes and that you’re never too old — or young — to fall head over heels.
