Kate Foster has always loved gymnastics, ever since she was 7 years old. She was one of those girls who would put in all of the extra time needed to be the very best athlete that she could be. Aside from gymnastics, she's also always been interested in fitness in general. Even as a young preteen, she was highly involved in the CrossFit community. She was probably in better shape, and much stronger, than a lot of boys and girls twice her age.
Then, when she turned 12, she got some terrible news. No family wants to hear what the doctors told them that day.
Kate was diagnosed with leukemia. Again, no one wants to hear this, but if anyone could face this terrible disease, it was Kate. She knew that she could beat it and return to the life and family she loved so much.
In preparation for a bone marrow transplant, she underwent chemotherapy. However, that wasn't going to be enough. She developed a terrible infection in her left leg.
She was told she'd have to chose between her leg and her life.
While she didn't want to lose the thing that she loved most, gymnastics, she knew what she had to do.
Kate's strong will, determination, athleticism, and overall glowing attitude are all huge factors in her survival. But what has life been life after leukemia?
At 16 years old, this young woman is a real firecracker, and a true inspiration.
