Kate Middleton is playing middle man in the healing of the royal family.
At least, that's what royal sources are claiming. With the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue just weeks away, there's been little update on the state of royal family affairs. Since the birth of Lilibet Diana, the Sussexes have been in a happy bubble of parenthood with the royals sending well wishes. The Duchess of Cambridge herself said she was looking forward to meeting her niece.
That said, many have speculated Meghan Markle is unlikely to make an international trip so soon with her newborn and 2-year-old Archie. There's also little indication that any royals outside of Prince William and Prince Harry will be involved. With all this, it appears Kate is working hard to mend fences between Harry and other members of the family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are reportedly working toward repairing some of the relationships in the royal family. Part of that is sharing updates on Lilibet Diana, which the couple are reportedly doing via WhatsApp group chats.
Royal sources have told Entertainment Tonight the couple shared a photo of Lili in the chat shortly after she was born. Recently, Kate Middleton, who has reportedly been helping act as a middleman between the couple and the rest of the royals, spoke about her niece's birth.
"I wish her all the very best," Kate told reporters, "I can't wait to meet her."
She added: "We haven't met her yet. I hope that will be soon."
The source explained the ways how Kate has been serving as "an intermediary helping to smooth relationships between Harry and the royal family."
Since the Sussexes' interview with Oprah Winfrey, Kate has reportedly been keeping in touch with Harry.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl expressed that it seems the family is all beginning to feel like this has gone on too long, and Lili's birth has given them additional clarity.
"This family division has really gone on for a long time now, well over a year," she said.
"It has been many, many months since [Prince] Charles and Queen [Elizabeth II] and the Cambridges have seen Archie in the flesh. We know that there has been some really quite deep problems between Harry and William, difficulties between Harry and his father and I think that it is everyone's hope that this little baby will be a peace offering in many ways and that she will hope to bring this divided family back together."
All eyes will be on William and Harry in just a few weeks, when they unveil a statue of Princess Diana at Kensington Palace in honor of what would have been the late Princess of Wales' 60th birthday. Royal expert Camilla Tominey believes it will be just Diana's sons, without their families.
"We've never really been told that family is going to be included in this thing, we know this is the reunion for the brothers on what would have been Diana's 60th birthday on July 1," she told Daily Express.
"Never any suggestions that the Cambridges would attend along with Prince William and equally, that Meghan and the children would attend with Harry."
"So I think we may just see them cut solo figures without their families around them," she continued.
"All eyes will be on the brothers of course, because everyone's hoping there may be some kind of reconciliation at what is going to be a hugely poignant and significant moment for them, remembering their late mother."
