8-Year-Old Boy Discovers The Magic Of Rescue Animals In One Visit To The Shelter

Kenny Lewis, an 8-year-old from Pasco County, FL, has set forth on an important mission — one that a lot of adults wouldn't dare undertake.

Much like when a few compassionate folks to convince the police force to train stray dogs as police dogs instead of pure breeds, now one little boy is trying to convince the world to adopt strays.

Kenny visited an animal shelter and was moved by all of the animals that needed homes. He's set out to save the 150 lives of mostly dogs and some cats that were rescued from abandonment.

As Kenny notes, the shelter is far above capacity, housing around 25 more animals than it should due to lack of adoption.

"I felt sad, sad because there are all these good dogs that really need a home," Lewis told Bay News 9.

Kenny urges residents to attend the Pasco County Animal Services pet adoption event "Just One Day" to help find the animals new homes.

"Imagine in this much of space, for your whole life, I mean that wouldn't feel that good," he said, noting the small size of the kennels. "They should be having fun in their own way like running and playing fetch."

Kenny wished that he could do more but his family's house is too small.

"We do have a one-story house so it would be over capacity," Kenny says.
