At 40 Weeks, This Mom-To-Be Hops On A Wakeboard To Induce Labor

Kolby Fahlsing thought that she would never be able to have children of her own.

She was born without ovaries, fallopian tubes, and eggs, but she does have a uterus. She's capable of carrying a child, just not producing one naturally. Her condition is called Gonadal Dysgenesis Type XX, and she was diagnosed in 2003.

She and her husband, Jake, knew that they wanted a family to share adventures with, but they knew that their options were very limited and specific. They could adopt, use a surrogate, or hope for the best with IVF.

Well, they did hope for the best, and they got their little miracle baby. The only part left was to wait for him to come into this world, happy and healthy.

But as the two of them soon found out, this baby didn't want to leave his mother's belly.

What do you think of this mom's unique approach to inducing labor? Let us know in the comments!

As the due date approached and passed, there was no sign of going into labor.

So, at 40 weeks of pregnancy, Kolby and Jake went out on the lake in Minnesota to get some sun and exercise.

Kolby has always loved wakesurfing — which is different than wakeboarding. Wakesurfing is at a much slower speed, about 10 mph. If she were to fall off of her board, it would be no greater impact than taking a careful jump into a swimming pool. She, of course, wouldn't do anything dangerous for her baby!

However, she did want to try something active to see if it would make her very stubborn baby budge. Wakesurfing seemed like the perfect choice!

Yet, her efforts were fruitless. A few days later, she still had to go to the hospital to induce labor… which lasted three entire days. She only had to push for about an hour, though, so I suppose that kind of makes up for the 72 hours of labor.

Either way, this family got the beautiful little addition that they always wanted, despite Mom's condition. Little Wilder is sure to grow up having tons of adventures out on the water with Mom and Dad.

Kolby, Jake, and Wilder are all getting the hang of being a family together, but they're all having a wonderful time! What a little miracle this little one is.
