Meet Lauren Burgos. This young woman grew up in a household where education was extremely important, and she had planned on going to college. But when her father died while she was still in high school, she had to put her education on hold to help support her family.
She secured a job at a Manhattan hotel, working 40–60 hours a week. Helping to pay the rent and save enough money to send her brother to college, her dreams of going to school and eventually becoming a lawyer became a distant memory for the 22-year-old.
Her brother Matt learned that Strayer University was looking to award scholarships to people that dreamed of pursuing a college degree but had to take a detour to overcome obstacles in their life, so he decided to submit Lauren's story of selflessness.
At a surprise birthday party last month, her selflessness was finally rewarded. It's great to see good things happen to good people — like the hardworking housekeeper who was rewarded with a life-changing surprise.
We won't spoil it for you, but you'll want to watch the video below to see the surprise that will change Lauren's life forever. You may need some tissues for this one.
