Lentil (short for Lentil Bean) the French bulldog was born with a cleft palate, a congenital deformity that effects animals as well as human babies and develops during gestation.
Lentil came from an unusual litter of puppies all affected with the condition and his case was so severe that he could not eat or drink on his own.
Luckily Lentil's story has a very happy ending, and despite his unique physicality, he manages to live a rich and happy life, and has developed a media presence as a doggie celebrity!

1. Lentil was born on Feb. 2, 2013 with a cleft palate that made it difficult for him to swallow.
2. This fur baby needed special attention, and through the help of the French Bulldog Rescue Network, he met his doting foster mama, Lindsay Condefer.
3. Lindsay fed him through a feeding tube every three hours, and soon baby Lentil began gaining an ounce a day.
4. Lentil has gained tons of attention and fans through his Facebook, who have generously donated to help his mama care for him.
5. Now Lentil is all grown up and has over 145,000 fans on Facebook! His mama, who formally adopted him, regularly shares photos of him with his adoring admirers.
6. He is quite the handsome boy, and his unique features are quite charming.
7. In fact, his snout is shaped much like a heart!
8. This precious boy is truly a fighter, a survivor, and a furry miracle.
