Country Star Luke Bryan Sees 18-Year-Old Dog Online And Immediately Applies To Adopt Him

Luke Bryan has led a life filled with unexpected heartache. He lost both of his older siblings to separate, sudden tragedies. His niece died at 7 months old due to a congenital heart defect. While some people would be overcome by sadness in this situation, it seems to have only made the country star's heart even bigger.

Luke and his wife, Caroline, started Brett's Barn to honor his late niece. What started with just one pony quickly turned into a whole farm's worth of animals on the land surrounding their Nashville home. It's clear that the family absolutely loves animals and are lucky enough to be able to add to their brood with little limitation.

In 2019, a Nashville animal shelter revealed that Luke and his family had adopted a very special dog. Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue said that Luke and Caroline applied to adopt 18-year-old Poochie, who was surrendered by his previous owner after the owner experienced an allergy to him.

Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, are serious animal lovers. The two run Brett's Barn at their Nashville home in honor of their late niece, Sadie Brett Boyer.

The barn began with one pony. On the Brett's Barn website, Caroline explains, "After Brett passed away, I decided to keep a promise I made to her when she was about a month old… a white pony! We found the pony at a local animal rescue facility. Along with the white pony, we adopted another pony, goat, and pig."

Since then, the family has added a lot more animals to the mix. They've got chickens that peck after selfies.

They've got pretty playful goats. Who knew goats enjoyed trampolines?

Of course, those goats can use a little backup. These Great Pyrenees are some fluffy, fun bodyguards.

And yes, that was a pig you saw. There are two, Jimmy Dean and Apple.

You won't just find your usual animals at Brett's Barn. There are also these photogenic llamas, Pekka and Mister.

They even have a pair of kangaroos! Margo and Todd joined the crew during Christmas 2017.

The newest addition to Brett's Barn is an 18-year-old dog, Poochie! He's stolen everyone's hearts.

Poochie was surrendered by his previous owner after the owner experienced an allergy to the dog. Because of Poochie's advanced age, staff at Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue were prepared to foster him themselves to let him live out his golden years.

Luckily, the internet brought a little luck Poochie's way. Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue posted Poochie's story, and Luke Bryan happened to see it.

Luke and Caroline filled out an application and were accepted. Here's Caroline when she went to pick up Poochie from his foster mom!

As news of the newest addition to the Bryan family spread, Luke took to Twitter to express how much he's enjoying Poochie. The shelter spokespeople have joked that there may be a country song that comes out of all this, and we certainly wouldn't mind!
