When 21-year-old Maggie Michael was doing research for a student project, she didn't expect it would be a near-death experience.
While collecting rare plants for a local nature conservancy, the Colorado State University student accidentally slipped.
She lost her footing on a cliff and immediately dropped 30 feet. She then tumbled down another 70 feet.
As she fell, she began to pray and then she saw something — a sign — that convinced her everything would be OK.
Though it may sound silly to some, another survivor of a terrible accident, Katie Lentz credits the power of prayer as what saved her during a car crash.
“I could see my jeans were cut and there was blood,” she said. Maggie survived with only a leg injury. However, at the time she of fall after fall, she had no idea what fate had in store for her.
Her survival sounds impossible, but for the devout Christian, Maggie believe that it was God who miraculously saved her.

Meet 21-year-old college student Maggie Michael. She studies wildlife biology at Colorado State University. While studying aletes humilis, a plant that grows off the cliffs in Larimer Country, for a nature conservancy, she slipped.

“I was pretty close to the edge and a rock when out from under my foot, so I lost my footing,” Maggie said. “And then I went over a 30-foot edge and so I did a 30-foot free fall.” When she landed on the ledge of the cliff she hit it hard and flipped over. She then fell another 70 feet.
Then something happened. As she fell, she began to pray. “I just prayed, Jesus be with me and in that moment I saw two bald eagles,” she said.

"I was holding onto my necklace really hard. I have a crucifix and a Saint Dominic," she told CBS. “If I didn’t land exactly where I did, I would’ve gone over the next cliff which was well over 200 feet,” said Michael.

Maggie mustered enough energy to get up but couldn't quite function. “After a few steps, my vision got hazy and then black," she said. After 30 minutes, her team found and rescued her.

Despite leg injuries, Maggie has a beaming smile. Her faith tells her that in her moment of need God was looking after her, even if he came in the form of two rare bald eagles.
