In this day and age, we're all a bit too glued to our cell phones, tablets, and computers. Everyone is tech crazy!
It is amazing to think of what our cell phones are capable of, but we all use them to log on to Facebook and see what everyone else is up to.
So, if we were to lose our phones, it would cause a bit of panic, right? I know I've had a minor freak-out or two when I couldn't find my phone for a couple of hours.
Well, one person managed to lose their phone and it wasn't found for nearly three years. However, they weren't even the one to find it.
Facebook user Alex Tom took his car to a mechanic to have it worked on. When he got it back, he was given an iPhone 4s. For those of you who aren't up to date on Apple products, we're already at the iPhone 7 now in 2017, with 8 surely on the way.
The thing is, the phone didn't belong to Alex or anyone he could think of. Alex posted this discovery on Facebook and the strangest online search began. Everyone came together to find out whom the mystery phone belonged to.

It all began on April 10, when Alex first uploaded a photo of the iPhone with a picture of a blurry screensaver and this caption:
"Have you (a) ridden in my car and (b) mysteriously lost an iPhone in the last 5 or so years? Got my passenger airbag replaced and they found an white iPhone 4s hiding inside the airbag compartment. If this background looks familiar, let me know. VERY curious to find its owner. "
Alex had to bring the car into the shop for a faulty airbag. When he got it back, he was given the iPhone. At first, he thought it must have been one of the mechanics', as it had been found in the airbag on his passenger's side glove box. But it didn't belong to anyone at the shop.
It was dead when they found it, so Alex charged it. When it came back on, the date was set for 2015 and the phone was locked and stuck in airplane mode. It was a total mystery to Alex, so he turned to Facebook.
The mystery phone soon blew up and many suggestions on how to find the owner came through. Not all suggestions were exactly helpful, as people often love to run with things for the sake of a joke.
But when Alex plugged the phone into his computer, he discovered it was "Sully's iPhone." The only problem was, he didn't know a Sully! So the mystery continued.
This led Alex's Facebook friend Logan Roberts to create a Craigslist ad looking for the phone's owner. And that is where the break in the case came.
As Alex had the phone, he found a message from 2014 on the app Coffee Meets Bagel. It seems the company saw the Craigslist ad and did some detective work to figure out who Sully was.
They emailed Logan to let him know, and in turn, Logan let Alex and the hundreds of other people who were now invested in the search know.
After all this, Sully was finally found! It turns out, in 2014, Alex guided rafting trips for the Sierra Club on the American River with Sully. He'd forgotten this connection. And in June of that year, Sully stuck his phone in Alex's glove box, while on airplane mode to conserve battery.
Sully looked for the phone that day, but wasn't able to find it. They both forgot about it all until now. After finding Sully online, Alex let him know what all went down and both of them wrote long Facebook posts about the journey.
