Pulling off a unique wedding is hard to do these days. Chances are, even if you think your wedding plan is one-of-a-kind, someone has probably done it before.
"Royal wedding"? Already been done. Underwater wedding? Been there, done that. Baseball-themed wedding? There have been so many.
It might seem crazy, but even the wackiest wedding ideas are no longer unique.
But one Chicago couple had a brilliant idea for their wedding in 2015, and it stunned everyone who attended.
Mark Jockel and Stephanie Reinhard, two runners who met while training for a marathon, wanted to do something special and meaningful for their wedding two years ago. Stephanie wanted to have a simple ceremony at city hall, but Mark wanted a huge ceremony with all their friends and family.
In the end, they decided to compromise and get married doing something they both love — during the middle of the 2015 Chicago Marathon, right at mile eight.

Stephanie and Mark met during the summer in 2013, while they were both training to run the marathon.
They fell in love and eventually got engaged — but they couldn't decide on wedding details.
After a lot of debating, they finally settled on an idea: getting married while running the 2015 Chicago Marathon.
It might sound crazy to other people, but for Stephanie and Mark it was perfect.
The couple got married at the eight-mile mark, under a garden arch that was decorated with race medals.
Their officiant was Stephanie's high school track teammate.
The entire ceremony lasted four minutes, and the newlyweds toasted their marriage with Gatorade.
Then, they got back to the matter at hand: running the marathon.
Although their ceremony was quick, they both dressed up for the occasion.
Mark wore a tuxedo shirt and black shorts, and Stephanie wore all white, with a sparkly headband in her hair.
At the end of the race, they posed in front of the marathon sign, wearing bibs that said "Bride" and "Groom."
Guests from all over the country attended their wedding, in addition to all the runners who passed by during the four-minute ceremony.
Once they had both completed the marathon, the bride and groom met their guests at their casual restaurant reception.
Then, it was off to their Canadian honeymoon, where they went on a polar bear trek.
Isn't this such a personal and creative wedding ceremony?
