Man Wants To See High School Sweetheart At Reunion, But She’s Already Married To Someone Else

As I was watching this video, I couldn't believe it depicted the real lives of two individuals. In fact, I was stunned. What was supposed to be a recount of how a pair of high school sweethearts found each other again sounded more like some epic, Nicholas Sparks-esque love story! Such is the stuff Mary and Wray's story is made of.

Mary and Wray currently live in Meridian, Idaho. This past Valentine's Day, they celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary.

But according to them, if not for some twists of fate, they may have been celebrating their 49th anniversary.

They first met in high school in California, and it was love at first sight.

"I saw this cute guy over there and afterwards I said, 'OK, he's mine,'" Mary said, laughing.

But, as often happens in life, they went their separate ways after graduation, marrying different people and raising families.

Wray never forgot about his first love, and after he had a divorce, he set out to do something about it.

There was a 10-year reunion for their graduating class, and Wray was eager to see Mary again.

"So, I went to the reunion to see her at the 10 year, and she didn't show up. So I had to wait another 20 years," Wray said.

Mary was married at the time, and even though she had asked if he would be at the reunion, she didn't go see him.

But this wasn't the end. What followed was a 20-year journey of the two trying to find a way back to each other, chock-full of rejected invitations — there's even a point where Mary thought Wray was trying to give her a taste of her own medicine at the airport!
