“Guardian Angel” Saves Woman And Nephew From Gruesome Kidnapping

The beginning of this story is so disturbingly gruesome, that I'll just go right ahead and tell you there is a happy ending. In Memphis, TN, Ashunti Grayson and her 4-year-old nephew were walking home when the unthinkable happened.

A masked man forced Ashunti and her nephew into a house. The man robbed the family's house and kidnapped Ashunti and her nephew. He took the pair to a park and began beating Ashunti with his gun.

"He was probably going to kill me," Ashunti told WERG. Perhaps, what's even more disturbing is her nephew experiencing it all.

"A boy had put a gun to my head," the little one said — words that should never be spoken by any child.

That's when an angel showed up. Linda Williams-Dogget happened to be driving by. This isn't the first time a stranger has intervened in a kidnapping; teenager Malyk Bonnet followed a maniac to save his victim.

"Just to see him the way he was beating her," Linda said. "He was hitting her to where he didn't want her to have her — he was trying to kill her."

The man fired the gun at Ashunti. When it missed her, she and her nephew ran for their lives. That's when Linda said, "get in."

"I unlocked the door and I told her to get in. And she got in, and I just saw all the blood just dripping all down her face and her hand was bruised,"  Linda recounted, tearing up. Ashunti was more than grateful.

"She just kept screaming to me 'Oh God, you're an angel. You're an angel in disguise,' " Linda said.

She drove the survivors to the Raines Police Station where officers were more than eager to help.

"It was so many police officers who came out that door to save her and the only thing she could do was just touch me," Williams-Dogget said. "She just kept telling me 'you're my angel.' "
