9 Secret Hiding Spots Where Horrible Mold Could Be Lurking In Your Kitchen

I have to admit, I don't spend nearly enough time in my kitchen making sure it's clean. In fact, since I'm not much of a cook, I'm usually only in there for as long as it takes to zap my frozen dinner in the microwave.

I do my share of the dishes, of course, but that's not the only place where ickiness could be lurking in your home. Kitchens are also a hotbed for nasty mold which could seriously hinder your health.

That's why it's so important to take an extra-close look at the places below before it's too late and you find yourself overrun with the disgusting issue. Obviously, you can't spend all your time constantly inspecting every nook and cranny with a microscope, but everyone should be aware of the spots that are especially prone to developing mold.

Be sure to SHARE with your loved ones and tell us if we missed a major hiding spot!

They're less helpful at keeping your home clean when their porous structure holds on to moisture too long and starts growing gross fuzzy mold inside.

2. Fridge Veggie Crisper

There's nothing worse than grabbing some yummy veggies for a salad only to see dark patches revealed right underneath them.

3. Under The Fridge

This is one of the most notorious places for the fungus to find a home, so make sure to check that drip pan frequently.

4. Coffee Maker

You won't feel quite as peppy when you pour yourself a heaping cup of mold sprinkled into your java, and the same goes for other similar appliances like blenders.

5. Sink Full Of Dishes

I know I've been guilty of letting things sit in the sink for way too long, but cleaning up your plates, pots, and pans quicker is better than having to toss them out and buy replacements.

6. Under The Sink

This goes for your bathroom, too, where even the tiniest leak or drop of condensation can become a horrific breeding ground.

7. Dishwasher

Your sink isn't the only place that can gather that gunk up on your dishes, but also inside and in the areas surrounding your washer, so take a good look now and then.

8. Damp Towels

Whether they're hanging on your fridge or oven handle, you should switch them out often and clean them regularly. Otherwise, you'll be wiping some awful mold onto your hands and dishes.

9. Windowsill

It's nice to have the bright sun shining on you while you're doing tedious chores, but both the rainy weather that occurs outside and the dampness inside can make those crevices a hot bed for the horrifying pores.
