A child's resemblance to one or both parents largely depends in the genetic makeup of that child. This resemblance can be subtle, like having the same nose or eye color. But then it can also be so much more than that, as one woman found out!
Twenty-five-year-old Shaylyn Gibson posted a photo of herself on Reddit, along with a photo of her mom, Fiona, at the same age. And now the internet is blowing up over the photos of the two beautiful ladies!
Can you tell why? It's because of their uncanny resemblance, of course!
Both wear red-rimmed glassed and brown sweaters, but beyond that, the two look like they could have been twins. Every aspect of their faces looks similar, if not identical, with the exception of their hair. Mom wears her hair curly and very much in fashion at the time of the photo, and Shaylyn wears her hair straight.

Now she tells LittleThings: "My sister and I were texting a few weeks ago, and she started sending me all these old photos she had found. I laughed at one point because I was wearing the exact same outfit as my mom in one of them, we even had the same glasses, so I took a photo of myself from the same angle and sent it to my sister. I thought the outcome was pretty interesting — normally I don't really think I look like my mom, so it was fun to be able to see the resemblance so clearly — so I posted it to Reddit."
"It's just weird to experience the power of the internet firsthand," Shaylyn added. "My sister and I told my mom about the photo having kind of exploded online and she laughed and said, 'Oh, how fun!' We're not really super-cyber people, so I don't think she's really interested in the magnitude of it, she just thinks it's lovely that people are sharing it."
"My mom is the greatest woman alive. I know everyone says that about their moms, but my mom is special. She is extraordinary, giving, caring… just an amazing person. And so incredibly sweet. I suspect her heart is made of honey and daffodils."
