One of the greatest joys for any mother is hearing the sound of her child's voice. I can't imagine going eight years without knowing what that voice sounds like.
It wasn't long after a Texas mom named Dawn turned 30 that she lost her hearing and speech recognition. Hearing aids were never an option for her, so she communicated by reading lips. But the most heartbreaking aspect of her hearing loss was the fact she never heard her 8-year-old son's voice. She never heard him say "I love you."
One day, the daytime talk show The Doctors approached Dawn. The producers wanted to connect her with a doctor who could perform a breakthrough procedure and give her a cochlear implant. If successful, the implant would restore her hearing.
Fascinatingly, Dawn says she was more afraid of hearing Asher's voice than the surgery itself; she feared the unknown.
In the video below, watch the incredible moment Asher stands behind his mother and asks if she can hear his voice. Dawn's expression is absolutely priceless, and it's enough to bring tears to anyone's eyes.
Please SHARE this very special "I love you" with all of your friends on their Facebook wall, and then be sure to say it to the special people in your life.
