What if your bra could prevent an attack? That’s the idea one clever mom in Texas came up with after a man attacked her from behind while she was out jogging one day.
"I realized that I may not [mean] a lot to many people, but to these guys, I'm everything," says Jennifer Cutrona, who immediately thought of what might have happened if her two sons lost their mom that day.
In an effort to help more women who face assault, she invented the “Booby Trap Bra,” which features compartments sewn into the material for easy weapon access. The company slogan is "Stay safe. Stay active."
What a wonderful way to turn a negative situation into a more positive one!
Everyone should be prepared just in case of an emergency, and there are actually a few items in our purses, clutches, or backpacks that can help with that. There’s also an app that can connect a victim with first responders.
When asked about how her invention would deter any would-be assailants, Cutrona said that if a man tries to attack someone wearing the bra, "He's got something more to think about now because his DNA is all over the ground, and he's wounded."
That something like this is even necessary can turn your stomach, but it’s innovative and strong-willed people like Cutrona who are working to make women everywhere feel just a little bit safer.
