In March of 1992, Ruthie awoke to a very real nightmare that still haunts her today. She saw her husband and three children die in a fire as their home was burning down. The only family member that survived was her newborn son she was holding in her arms.
Unable to cope with the loss of her family, Ruthie gave up her child and turned to alcohol. That decision led to decades spent on the streets of LA, until one group gave her the help she needed to get her life back on track. Recently, Ruthie reconnected with her son, and the one question he asked her brought a tear to my eye.
