Family Adopts Girl But When She Learns English They Find Awful Truth About Her Adoption

Adoption can be a great option for a lot of families out there who are looking to expand. Unfortunately, there can be a dark side to it all, with some children falling through the cracks and being taken advantage of.

This video shared by Wonderbot tells the story of a couple from Ohio who adopted a 5-year-old girl from overseas in hopes of completing their family, only to discover a startling truth about what she had been through.

Adam and Jessica Davis already had four children, but they still felt a sense of longing to adopt a child in need in order to fulfill their family. They consulted a European adoption agency that helped to bring orphaned children over to America and soon received a call about a little girl named Namata from Uganda who needed a home.

The adoption agency told the Davis family that Namata’s father died and her abusive mother didn’t want to raise her. Even though there was a fee of $150,000, Adam and Jessica felt as though Namata was already a member of their family, so they flew to Uganda to pick her up, finalize the adoption, and bring her home.

After about a year of living with the Davis family, Namata, who had been nicknamed Mata for short, seemed to be integrating beautifully into her new life and community. She was attending school and learning English quite well.

Through her new communication skills, Mata was able to tell her family about her life back home in Uganda with her loving mother, her siblings, and village and how much she loved all of them.

It appeared that the story Adam and Jessica were told prior to adopting Mata was completely untrue, and she had been trafficked from a perfectly loving household.
