Neighbors Organize Yard Clean-Up For Elderly Couple With Disabilities

Since 1992, Perry Moore and his wife have lived in their Kansas home. The elderly couple loves nothing more than hosting their 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, but are disheartened by the fact the kids don't get to play in their big backyard. You see, over time, the trees and brush have become overgrown, spilling out onto the street. Sadly, Perry's age and medical condition makes it impossible for him to care for the yard. "It's hard to have to depend on other people, but when you can't do it you have to kind of suck it up and swallow your pride," Perry said.

Neighbors noticed the overgrowth of wild trees, bushes and grass. In an incredible team effort, they decided to ban together and organize a team with the help of social media. Members of the community took time out of their busy weekends to surprise the Moore's and give their yard the makeover they'd been waiting for. Even neighbors who couldn't physically help lent their yards for bulk pick-up.

The couple was shocked and touched by the volunteers' act of kindness, who stuck around after the yard work was finished to enjoy a neighborhood barbecue as a community.
