Being sick is never fun. Whether you have a common cold or a serious illness, it's always awful to feel under the weather.
One mom, Shannel Cano, started feeling sick and ended up hospitalized for pneumonia.
Shannel has a young child who is still breastfed, but when she went into the hospital, she didn't want her baby there because of all the germs.
As a nursing mother, though, Shannel's milk ducts didn't stop producing milk just because she was in the hospital.
A few days into her hospital stay, Shannel's breasts became engorged with milk. They were uncomfortable and painful, but the hospital didn't have any breast pumps for her.
Shannel's husband is a subcontractor for FEMA, so he was doing work in Florida while she was at the hospital. Her father was watching her children, and it just wasn't possible for her to get a breast pump from home.
When Shannel's nurse heard her situation, she jumped to action.

Shannel shared her story on the Facebook page Love What Matters, where it got a lot of attention.
Within three days, the post had over 16,000 reactions and over 350 shares.

She wrote:
Been in the hospital for 3 days due to pneumonia.
I don't want my little one here because I'm scared she might get sick.

Yesterday I asked for a breast pump because I was starting to become engorged but this hospital doesn’t have any.
My amazing nurse spent all morning calling other hospitals.

None of them would lend one out so she went to the store and bought me one and refuses to let me pay her back.
I'm so grateful that people like her exist.

I ended up pumping 16oz in one sitting.
I can't imagine how much pain I'd be in right now if it wasn't for her.

Everyone who commented on the video was so appreciative toward the nurse.
One person wrote, "That's awesome! The best thing you can do to thank her is send her boss a letter about how wonderful she was and how she went above and beyond for you. Get well soon."

Another woman wrote, "Gosh glad to see there are decent people in existence. There is nothing worse than engorgement[…] every movement hurts. Get well wishes for a speedy recovery."

Another commenter wrote, "So sorry you had to go through that. God bless you, your nurse and all the caring nurses in the world. They are angels."
"Nurses are the backbones of hospitals," wrote yet another woman.

It's so amazing how this nurse went out of her way and spent her own money to care for a patient.
Isn't this nurse a truly incredible woman?
