In our day-to-day lives, it can be easy to forget how blessed we truly are by some of the simple things in life. I don't just mean the random acts of kindness from strangers or maybe a surprise from a loved one out of nowhere, but something as basic as being able to communicate. For most of us, it's only a matter of opening our mouths and perhaps finding the bravery to say what we really mean. For those in the deaf community, however, the smallest of request can feel like climbing a mountain.
That's why deaf actor and model Nyle DiMarco has dedicated his newfound fame to promoting a better understanding for his fellow non-hearing individuals. You might recognize him as the hunk burning up the floor every week on Dancing with the Stars, or from his historical win on America's Next Top Model. While DiMarco's star continues to rise with each new episode and photo shoot he completes, flashing that stunning smile at every opportunity, he hopes to make the world more accessible for deaf people everywhere.
It makes sense that he would be so passionate about this community, considering many of his family members are also deaf. Both of his parents, grandparents, and brothers were all born without hearing. While working with the deaf-owned and -designed app Convo, DiMarco discusses his close-knit bond living with all of his family members under one roof and how their love and influence inspire him to achieve not only his personal goals, but help others as well.
