Overweight Mom Is Bullied And Called ‘Obese Barbie.’ Then She Transforms, Losing Over 125 Pounds

At over 330 pounds, Brittany Ofsoski was depressed and addicted to food. The 23-year-old mother of one had gained more than 150 pounds over the course of three years, and she was very self-conscious about her appearance.

The young mom, who lives in Brisbane, Australia, used to eat takeout every day. She works in an office, and after sitting all day at work it wasn't unusual for her to eat an entire bucket of fried chicken or polish off a container of ice cream.

She hated going out in public, so apart from work, she hid inside her home. Brittany was ashamed of her body, which put her into a depression. Her depression led to a vicious cycle: She was depressed about her weight, so she would eat to make herself feel better. But eating more made her even more depressed.

"All of a sudden I would get called names, I would be bullied, people would talk about me behind my back," Brittany told Daily Mail.

"I was depressed because I was fat, and I was fat because I was depressed," she said. "I've always been what I would call an obese Barbie."

But all the hatred she got, both from others and from herself, made her determined to make a change.

In March 2016, Brittany had gastric sleeve surgery, which removed 85 percent of her stomach. For months, all she was able to eat was broth.

In the first six weeks after her surgery, Brittany lost almost 50 pounds. Seeing her weight-loss success convinced her to eat healthier and exercise more.

Now, Brittany has lost over 125 pounds, dropping from a size 24 to a size 14 or 16.

Brittany hasn't reached her goal weight yet, so she's continuing to push herself every day.

And now that she's had success personally, she wants to inspire others to take the weight-loss plunge.

"You have to believe in yourself to be honest, take a big breath, make the change and never look back," she told Daily Mail.
