A North Carolina police officer faced every cop's biggest fear: Officer JD Boyd said a man tried to stab him in the head during an altercation. The stranger went to prison for his crime.
Almost a year later, Officer Boyd came face-to-face with the man who nearly killed him.
It's almost hard to believe, but their latest interaction was a pleasant one as they posed together for a photo. Upon first glance, it's easy to mistake the two for good friends.
Officer Boyd shared the photo on his Facebook page along with a positive update on the man's life; He now has a full-time job and a son on the way.
"I was glad it ended well for us both that day and I am ecstatic now to learn that he has turned his life around and we can embrace as friends," Officer Boyd wrote in the caption.
The surprising photo quickly went viral, just like the one of another officer from North Caroline holding a stranger's baby. The photo reached over 200,000 likes and 79,000 shares, along with many comments from people praising the officer and the man for turning his life around.
"Best thing I've heard today! Anyone can change and deserves that chance at Grace! LOVE that you actually reconnected and got to hear this great news!" one person said.
