Dad Transforms Old Mobile Scooter Into His Daughters’ New Favorite Truck

With a keen upcycling sensibility in your wheelhouse, even the farthest-gone materials can transform into amazing new masterpieces.

When one Instructables user spotted an old mobile scooter for sale online — advertised as sporting corroded brakes and a dead motor — he jumped at the chance to repurpose this diamond in the rough into something new and exciting.

He picked up the old hunk of junk, and inspiration immediately struck. His 4- and 7-year-old daughters had been desperate for a new toy, and with a bit of sprucing up, this old motor scooter was bound to become their next playtime favorite.

Over the next 10 days, he cleaned, reworked, and refinished the scooter, transforming it from a run-down relic into an incredible new kid-sized truck.

Coated in hot pink paint, and outfitted with comfy vinyl seating, this builder created an awesome new truck, ready to tear up the town.

Thanks to this dad's upcycling imagination, his daughters now have a fun new car to drive all over their yard.

Its electric brake was quite corroded, so he disassembled it, cleaned it out, and put it back together — good as new.

Next, he turned his attention to the scooter's motor.

When he bought the scooter, its motor wasn't running. Upon further inspection, he found that the motor was completely grimey and missing a brush.

Once he took the whole motor apart, cleaned the grease and grit off each piece, and added in that new brush, the motor ran beautifully.

He then used Marine Ply to build his truck's new external shell.
