Often times, our simplest possessions house our strongest memories.
When Instructables user Suzelac found her closet filled with ratty old T-shirts, her spring cleaning momentum began to stall.
While this DIY-er hadn't worn any of her T-shirts in years, she just couldn't fathom tossing them in the trash. They were each filled with such beautiful memories of her youth, stories with which she couldn't bear parting.
So, this crafter got to thinking. There had to be a way she could repurpose these shirts, keeping them out of both the dumpster and her packed closet.
After sufficient brainstorming, this clever upcycler chose to imbue her prized possessions with new purpose. She cut each shirt into long, continuous fabric ribbons. Then, she braided these ribbons together, crafting an adorably colorful, spiraled rug.
Secured in place with a few hand-sewn stitches, this bright, vivacious rug turned her simple T-shirts into an extraordinary DIY masterpiece.

Recently, Instructables user suzelac found all sorts of fun T-shirts from her younger years sitting, forgotten, in the back of her closet.
While these T-shirts hadn't seen much use in a while, their sentimental worth deterred this DIY-er from simply throwing or giving them away.
Instead, she decided to repurpose them in her newest upcycling endeavor, crafting them into a cute new braided rug.
To get started, this crafter cut each of her T-shirts into strips.
She cut carefully along predetermined markings, so that each T-shirt would become one, long, continuous fabric strand.
Once she'd transformed each T-shirt into her new "raw materials," this crafter began braiding her rug into being.
Slowly but surely, she coiled her braided rug around and around.
To secure each coil in place, she chose to hand-sew stitching into her rug's underside, determined to pack the entire piece as tightly as possible.
And the end result was absolutely incredible!
Disinterested in discarding her meaningful T-shirts, this crafter upcycled them into a completely adorable and colorful rug — a beautiful relic through which she can continue enjoying her precious memories for years to come.
