When you go out on the open water, you never know what you may run into.
That's why there are so many classic stories that take place in the ocean, both fictional and true. Moby Dick, The Old Man and the Sea, and Titanic, just to name a few. With just about 70 percent of our planet's surface taken up by ocean, you never know if or when you might run into something… or what that something may be.
Some folks take it upon themselves to seek out the creatures of the deep, either by snorkeling or scuba diving. These people, in my eyes, are incredibly brave to try and come face-to-face with sharp-toothed sharks, enormous whales, poisonous fish, and sneaky bottom-dwelling critters. If if were me in that scuba suit, I wouldn't be able to catch my breath out of fear, despite the fact that there would be an entire tank of oxygen strapped to my back.
Floating on the surface of the water is just as scary as diving into the depths. In fact, I think it could be even more terrifying, because you can't necessarily see what's coming toward you. Who knows what might be swimming directly underneath your tiny vessel! Harmless as some aquatic creatures may be, the unknown factor is what's really scary.
When this woman spotted a paddleboarder leisurely floating on the surface of the water, she sensed that something quite frightening was about to happen…
