Man discovered years ago that you can make a ton of things out of wood.
This includes anything from a rudimentary cooking device (i.e. the campfire) to this mysterious timber hole perched on the edge of a mountain.
Yet, what is really impressive is when a true craftsman takes something made out of wood and then transforms it into something completely new, like flipping a discarded door into a coffee table or a wooden cable spool into a dog house.
One readily available hunk of wood most folks stumble upon is a pallet. Its basic construction can easily be transformed into something that has as much rustic charm as taking in the fresh scent of pine on the porch of a cabin.
One Imgur user, byhookorbycrook4, understands this quality. So, when he came across an available pallet, he decided to convert it into something so lovely — and fun to do — that I would actually like to give this project a try and proudly display it in my own living room.
Yet, what ever can this be? I can’t just tell you. Much like a sun setting over a lake in the woods, its beauty needs to be experienced with your own two eyes…
First, the pallet needs to be pulled apart.
After you’ve broken it down, sand the wood and reassemble it so that there are no gaps between the planks.
Give the wood a richer hue with a few coats of varnish.
Next, draw a design on a piece of paper that is the same size as the piece of wood. In this example, the illustration was a map of the world.
Hammer nails into the outline of the shape.
When you’re done with the outline, grab some string!
Use the string to create perimeters, then remove that section of the paper and fill in the spaces in between.
Your outlines should look a lot like the left part of the photo below.
Then the filled-in areas should look like the majority of this image.
Tada! You have strung together quite an original map of the world worthy of anyone’s living room or office.
Please SHARE this cool project with everyone you know and inspire others to think outside of box!
