Giving a child a name is a big responsibility that every parent approaches in their own unique manner. Some make lists, some choose to wait to meet their new bundle of joy, some do their research long ahead of time. Paris Hilton falls into the latter category.
She recently announced the name of her and husband Carter Reum’s new baby boy on her podcast, This Is Paris. Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum has a nice ring to it. Turns out she has had the name Phoenix in mind for quite some time.
Paris read from her upcoming memoir, Paris, to help explain her and Carter’s naming process. "If all goes well, by the time you read this, Carter and I will have a baby boy. We plan to name him Phoenix, a name that I decided on years ago when I was searching cities, countries and states on a map looking for something to go with Paris and London," she began.
To Paris, Phoenix had a larger symbolism beyond being just the name of a city. "Phoenix has a few good pop culture reference points, but more importantly it's the bird that flames out and then rises from the ashes to fly again. I want my son to grow up knowing that disaster and triumph go around and come around throughout our lives. And that this should give us great hope for the future,” she continued.
Phoenix’s middle name, Barron, pays homage to her late grandfather, Barron Hilton. "He was always my mentor. I looked up to my grandfather so much, and we were so close, and I miss him every day. So, I really wanted to honor him by having his name in my first son's name," Paris explained.
