You would be hard-pressed to find a musician who doesn't have a sappy love song or two in their repertoire. Even the hardest of rockers or heaviest of metal heads have a soft spot when it comes to romance. Because when you're in love, truly and totally head over heels, you just can't help yourself from expressing it as much as possible! Especially if you happen to have a job that puts a microphone in front of your face that allows you to tell the whole world about your soul mate.
However, some critics and other listeners like to put those songs down as overly sentimental and simplistic. One songwriter in particular was given a lot of flack for his penchant of composing the affectionate tunes. Former Beatle Paul McCartney even got admonished by his old writing partner, John Lennon! His response? More love songs! In fact, he wrote his most love-filled tune yet, "Silly Love Songs," dripping with terms of endearment in every line.
It's not surprising considering he was not only already famous for cowriting tons of popular love songs with Lennon for the Beatles, but also because of his incredible romance with his wife Linda. Their love story is one of history's most enduring testaments to true affection. Before her tragic death from breast cancer in 1998, the couple had only ever spent a total of 10 days apart from each other in their 29 years of marriage. Now that is devotion!
Take a look at their adorable behind-the-scenes antics while touring together with McCartney's post-Beatle band, Wings.
